Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid Review

Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid Review

The porsche panamera ev is one of the few cars in the world that can be described as a lively front-engine sports car from its door pillars forward and a capable five-seat GT from there aft. Its sloping roofline can feel cramped, but Porsche has managed to solve that with clever seating and space-saving design. The build quality is excellent throughout, and while the Panamera doesn’t quite match the level of sophistication found in VW’s Taycan, it still feels very special.

Adding an electric motor and battery pack to the mix only further enhances it. There’s no compromise in performance, either – the Turbo E-Hybrid boasts an amazing 671bhp and a mind-boggling 686lb ft of torque from its combined petrol/electric powertrain, giving it a staggering 0-62mph time of just 4.1 seconds.

This is complemented by the e-drive system’s near-silent electric motors and smooth, instant throttle response. The car will also automatically alter its driving modes to reduce energy consumption when you’re not driving hard. This is a nice way to keep the car in peak condition for longer and help reduce running costs.

Active Ride, which is a similar function to adaptive air suspension systems, also helps the car handle well on our often-challenging UK roads. It can make the car stiffer for tauter handling or softer for a more comfortable ride, as well as lower the ride height for improved aerodynamics and a smoother drive.

The cabin feels bigger than the Taycan, and the quality of finish is higher, too. However, the odd positioning of a few key controls and the two cupholders up front can be frustrating at times. The latter are too small to hold a Hydro Flask or other non-mainstream containers, and the gear selector under the steering wheel can be awkward to reach and difficult to operate.
